How do I type with Latin letters?

Type s'ms to write شمس (sun). This converts keystrokes into letters; it does not translate words or correct spelling.

You control the Arabic spelling. Pasted text stays as it is. Type = after a digit to use an Arabic numeral: 1= → ١.

s'شH'خg'غHح

Quick answers

Why do Arabic letters change shape as I type?

Many Arabic letters have different shapes at the beginning, middle, or end of a word. Your browser handles this automatically. Some letters do not connect to the next letter; that is normal.

Does this translate text into Arabic?

No. The on-screen keyboard inserts Arabic letters. Auto Arabic uses the keystroke mappings in the typing guide. It does not translate meaning or predict words.

Is my text saved?

By default, your text is only kept while this page is open. Turn on “Save draft on this device” to keep it in this browser’s local storage. Turning that option off deletes the saved draft.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes. Auto Arabic is on by default. Type with your phone’s keyboard or tap the Arabic letters on screen. Your phone’s autocorrect may change what you type; if that happens, use the on-screen letters.
